1. Profile Setup

Having the right profile, bio & picture setup is crucial to Twitter success.

Think about Twitter as you would sales. For something to sell, you need to get traffic to your offer. Your offer is your profile.

What visitors are buying, is your content. In return, they pay you with a follow. That means you need to convert your visitor into a follower.

Let’s start by taking a look at my stats for March 2022.

I got a total of 71800 visits to my profile and 744 new followers. That equals a 1% conversion rate.

Throughout this guide, you’ll learn how every parameter of your Twitter game plays an important role. I had to get 71k people to click on my profile, and then I had to convert them by having an awesome profile setup. I succeeded decently enough.

Remember: It’s all a numbers game. 1% conversion rate is not in the high end. If you can get a 3-4% conversion rate, that’s high. Everything above 5% is abnormal. If you do have a 5% conversion rate, you need to double down on whatever you’re doing.

I’m always working on improving my conversion rate too. To get started on setting up an awesome profile, you’ve got to make sure you've got these locked down:

2. Profile picture

There are good and there are bad profile pictures.

You want one that shows you're a human (unless you're a theme page, but that's not my specialty). Often, headshots work the best - but if you're like me; not into showcasing your face to the world, a doodle or a sketch can also work.

After you've decided on your profile picture, you need to decide on a brand color (if you want one). This will be your background picture color. I'm on a black & white theme, so the background of my profile picture is white. You also do fine without one.

Here’s an example of my profile picture:

3. Cover Photo

Having a cover is essential to utilize Twitter to the maximum.

Simply google “Twitter banners” if you’re looking to find a standard one. If you’re up for making one yourself, it’s pretty easy to do inside Canva by adding a few graphics and some text.

A cover photo should align with your brand message and have a strong Call-To-Action. An arrow pointing to the follow button is a great example. Check out my cover photo below:

4. Bio Link

Utilizing the link in your bio is essential. As you grow in followers, it becomes more and more important.

The link you put in your bio is where most of your traffic will click when visiting your profile. They need to convert to followers, yes, but even if they don’t, there’s still a chance they’ll visit your bio link.

There's no right or wrong way to do it. Every type of bio link has is its pros and cons. Let's break it down:
